Joe Kenney
Joe Kenney has a vast range and many years of experience in the field of immigration, both as a government official and as a consultant.
He is a registered member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC Membership No. R413119) and a registered member of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC).
Mr. Kenney has served as a part-time Instructor for the Ashton College Immigration Consultant Diploma Program and is a former Consultant Director on the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC) Board of Directors. He is currently an instructor for the University of British Columbia's Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures.
Mr. Kenney is also the former National Vice-President of the Association of Immigration Counsel of Canada (AICC) and an ex-Director-at-Large of CAPIC.
Prior to founding J. Kenney Consulting, Mr. Kenney was employed in various positions within the provincial and federal governments. They include:
Director, Economic Immigration Programs
Ministry of Economic Development, Government of British Columbia- Managed and oversaw BC’s economic immigration programs, including the Strategic Occupations and Business Categories components of the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) and the B.C. Business Immigration Program.
- Negotiated and liaised with officials from Citizenship and Immigration Canada and other federal departments to ensure optimal program functioning and the maximization of economic benefits of immigration to BC.
- Promoted and marketed BC’s economic immigration programs to potential applicants, BC employers, third-party representatives and other stakeholders.
Program Manager, Provincial Nominee Program
Immigration Division, Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Services, Government of British Columbia- Managed and administered the Strategic Occupations component of the BC PNP which is designed to select highly skilled immigrants whose experience and abilities fill critical skill shortages in the BC labour market.
- Worked with officials from Citizenship and Immigration Canada to ensure that BC’s Provincial Nominees are processed for permanent residence in an expedited fashion.
- Promoted and marketed the BC PNP to potential applicants, BC employers, third-party representatives and other stakeholders.
Immigration Examining Officer
Immigration Canada- Worked with other officers to enforce the Immigration Act of Canada at a port of entry.
- Conducted interviews and examinations of people seeking admission to Canada.
Mr. Kenney graduated first in his class from the Immigration Practitioner Certificate Program at the University of British Columbia in 2001. In 2002, he completed the Immigration Law for Migration Agents Course offered by the Migration Institute of Australia and Deakin University.
Mr. Kenney holds a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from McGill University and he graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree.
Haiyan (Maggie) Wu
Maggie specializes in serving the Chinese-speaking clientele of J. Kenney Consulting. Ms. Wu is a registered member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) and a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures.Before entering the immigration consulting field, Ms. Wu worked for nearly a decade in the media industry in both China and Canada. She is fluent in Mandarin and English and able to use her thorough understanding of Canadian immigration policies and processes to ensure that J. Kenney Consulting’s clients reach their goals.
